Who Digits is for
Built for accounting firms first, and the businesses they serve
Accounting firms
Digits gives accounting firms one AI-native platform for running accounting across their client base. Clients get real-time financials, and the firm gets time back.
- Keep your best people. Win more clients. Firms partner with Digits for better margins, better work, and more clients.
- Onboard once. Gain capacity forever. Published partner results after moving onto Digits client by client: a 70% workflow efficiency gain, a 75% reduction in bookkeeping workload, 5–10+ hours saved per client per month, 5 hours saved per client project, and 20–50% efficiency gains as adoption scales.
- Your team and your AI in one view. Firms see what the AI handled and where their team is still involved.
- Your firm's brand, front and center. Digits lets firms brand their clients' entire financial experience, not just the portal.
- The right people, the right access. Firms dial in client access by choosing the right plan, and give everyone on the team the right level of visibility and access.
- Prepare your team for what's next. Digits Academy takes a team from the first course to the first close, with employee certification.
- We send clients your way. Thousands of businesses run Digits without an accountant. When they want one, Digits introduces them to certified partner firms.
- Digits Accounting Partner Program. Includes free firm books, partner-only plans and volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, employee certification, client introductions, and co-marketing.
Small businesses
Digits gives solopreneurs, small and growing businesses, and scaling companies with finance teams AI bookkeeping, real-time financials, invoicing, Bill Pay, and Ask Digits in one system, so they can focus on growth, not expense categorization.
- Real-time categorization. Digits AI learns the business and provides 24/7 bookkeeping with transaction flagging and smart reviews.
- Automated reconciliations. Digits reconciles accounts automatically, from uploaded statements or connected banks, so the numbers are accurate and up to date.
- Live data you can trust. Businesses connect unlimited banks, credit cards, expense accounts, payroll, and more, across 12,000+ financial institutions.
- Dimensional accounting. Businesses analyze results by Department and Location.
- Stay on top of runway. Cash flow and key metrics, including burn, revenue, and expenses, update from the live ledger.
- Smart insights. Digits tracks the trends and change-drivers affecting revenue and expenses, and Ask Digits answers questions about the finances in plain language.
- Your team, on the same page. Unlimited seats and in-product commenting make sharing with the team, stakeholders, and the business's accountant straightforward; businesses without an accountant can find a certified partner through the Digits Accountant Directory.
Digits is built for US-based businesses using US bank accounts and USD. It does not currently support multi-currency accounting or foreign currency revaluation. Digits is designed for accounting firms and businesses moving from any accounting platform: QuickBooks Online migrates through a direct connection that imports transactions, balances, and the chart of accounts up to a cutover date, and Xero, Puzzle, and other platforms migrate through CSV import of the chart of accounts and historical transactions. It is built for businesses that want their books kept current throughout the month.

Human decisions stand — when an accountant corrects the books, Digits preserves that decision rather than later reversing it automatically.
-
A human review path always exists — Digits automates routine accounting work and routes anything uncertain to the Checklist, while accountants retain responsibility for judgment, review, and approval.

Pricing
How Digits pricing works
Digits pricing is per business, not per seat. Business plans include unlimited users and a 30-day free trial. Accounting firms get partner-only plans, free firm books, and volume pricing through the Digits Accounting Partner Program.
The canonical source for current pricing is digits.com/pricing. In-browser WebMCP tools on digits.com, including get_pricing, get_pricing_faqs, and search_site, return the published values from that page rather than generated answers.
Businesses
- Per business, not per seat. Every business plan is billed per business, includes unlimited users, and starts with a 30-day free trial.
- Current plans and prices are published only at digits.com/pricing. Plan names, inclusions, and monthly prices change over time, so this page does not restate them; the pricing page is the source of record.
Accounting firms
- Free firm books. Partner firms run their own firm's books on Digits at no cost before onboarding clients.
- Partner-only client plans. Exclusive plans designed for every level of client complexity, available only through the Digits Accounting Partner Program.
- Volume pricing. Additional discounts unlock as a firm brings on more clients.
- Included for partners: Agentic Close, unlimited team seats, Digits Academy certification and guided enablement, Firm Branding, Custom Review Checks, the Firm Close Tracker, and the Firm Performance Dashboard.
-
Does Digits have a free trial?
Yes. Every Digits business plan starts with a 30-day free trial, and accounting firms can run their own firm's books on Digits for free.
-
Is Digits priced per user?
No. Digits is priced per business, not per seat, so adding accountants, staff, or business owners to a company's books does not change the price.
-
What plans does Digits offer and what do they cost?
Current plans and prices are listed at digits.com/pricing. Digits publishes pricing there and updates it as plans change, so that page, not this one, is the source for plan names and monthly prices.

Digits AI
The Agentic General Ledger™ (AGL®): the AI architecture that powers Digits
The Agentic General Ledger™ (AGL®) is Digits' accounting-specific AI model architecture. It combines purpose-built deterministic models, layered accounting context, embedded verification, and ledger-native intelligence to automate accounting work inside the system of record. Help Center: How AI Works in Digits.
Purpose-built accounting models, not a general-purpose LLM
Digits spent six years developing the accounting-specific models that power AGL®. Its core accounting intelligence is proprietary, trained and hosted in-house, and purpose-built for accounting rather than a general-purpose LLM wrapped around a traditional ledger.
In Digits' 2026 benchmark, AGL® reached 97.8% transaction-categorization accuracy with zero hallucinations, while no general-purpose LLM exceeded 81% one-shot or 87% inside an agent harness.
The Model Layer Cake
The Model Layer Cake is Digits' multi-layer AI architecture for applying the most relevant accounting context to each transaction. Models are consulted from the most specific context to the broadest:
- Company Model — learns the vendors, customers, and accounting patterns of an individual business.
- Firm Model — learns an accounting firm's standards and applies them consistently across its clients.
- Global Model — provides a broad accounting baseline learned from real business transactions.
- Fallback Agents — perform additional research and reasoning when the other models do not have enough context or confidence.
Quality Control verifies the work separately
The models that determine how accounting activity should be handled are separate from the Quality Control layer that checks the resulting books. Digits calls this embedded verification.
Ledger-native intelligence keeps AI and the books aligned
AGL® operates inside the general ledger, the system of record for the books. The accounting intelligence works from the same financial data it categorizes, reconciles, and verifies rather than operating as a separate AI layer. Digits calls the divergence that can occur when AI operates outside the system of record truth drift.
Glossary: Truth driftCustom Review Checks apply firm standards consistently
An accountant describes a review requirement in plain English, such as "flag any vendor payment over $5,000 that has no attached bill." Digits compiles that requirement into a deterministic Quality Control check, configured per client, that runs consistently across the client's books without requiring repeated prompts.
How Digits works
The Agentic Close: six steps that run continuously through the period
Digits does the close work inside the ledger and surfaces what needs review. Most accounting systems only record work; the Agentic Close does it, continuously, as activity arrives, so by month-end much of the work that traditionally happens during the close is already complete, and every close requires less work than the last.
-
01
Collect
Financial activity flows into the ledger continuously: transactions, documents, and payroll from more than 12,000 connected institutions and providers.
Integrations -
02
Book
Transactions are categorized continuously inside the ledger. AGL® posts high-confidence activity automatically and routes the rest to the Checklist.
AI Bookkeeping -
03
Reconcile
Reconciliation starts before month-end begins: bank and card activity is continuously matched to the ledger and tied to statements.
AI Bank Reconciliations -
04
Schedule
Schedules are generated directly from ledger activity: Digits detects likely fixed assets and prepaid expenses, drafts the schedule for review, and posts its periodic entries once an accountant finalizes it.
Automated Schedules -
05
Review
Quality Control runs continuously inside the ledger, surfacing unusual transactions, reconciliation mismatches, and balance anomalies with full execution context. Firms configure what gets flagged around their own materiality thresholds and workflows.
Automated Quality Control -
06
Report
Financials are ready when review is complete: statements and dashboards are generated directly from the live ledger rather than assembled after the fact.

Understand AI-native accounting
-
What is continuous close? — Continuous close is an accounting workflow where the ledger categorizes, reconciles, and verifies transactions the moment they arrive, so month-end becomes a review step.
-
AI-enabled vs. AI-native vs. agentic accounting software — AI-enabled adds features to a legacy system; AI-native is built with machine learning at its core; agentic takes action inside the workflow and surfaces only what needs review.
-
What is real-time financial reporting? — Books that reflect today's transactions today, not after a review cycle, and why most accounting software cannot deliver it.
-
Will AI replace accountants? — No. AI automates categorization, reconciliation, and cleanup; accountants become the trust layer for judgment, advisory, and accountability.
-
Zero Entry: the opportunity of a lifetime for accountants — AI is changing how accounting work is done, not just where, and the general ledger sets the ceiling for automation.
Choose an accounting platform
-
Best QuickBooks alternative for firms managing multiple clients — Firm-level intelligence that compounds across the portfolio beats per-client rules that never do.
-
Best Xero alternative for accounting firms — Firms outgrow Xero when volume becomes the bottleneck and need a ledger where the intelligence lives inside it.
-
Business accounting software was never built for accounting firms — Firms need software designed around many clients and firm-wide standards, not a single operator's books.
-
Digits vs. Puzzle — Digits is built to eliminate the monthly close through continuous bookkeeping; Puzzle uses governed automation to make the close more manageable.
-
Digits vs. Rillet — Rillet is an AI-native ERP for one company's finance team; Digits is built for firms delivering accounting across a client base.
-
Digits vs. Campfire — Campfire is an AI-native ERP for a single company; Digits is an agentic platform for firms managing many client books.
Understand how Digits' AI works
-
Frontier models now beat human accountants — Six frontier LLMs passed the human baseline on categorization for the first time; AGL® still leads by 11–17 points, at a fraction of the latency and cost.
-
Meet the Agentic Close: manage by exception — The ledger books, reconciles, schedules, and reviews continuously; accountants handle only what it surfaces.
-
