Year-to-date (YTD) is the period beginning on the first day of a calendar or fiscal year and ending on the current date. Businesses use YTD figures to measure financial performance as the year progresses.

Example: A business reviews its YTD revenue and expenses to compare performance against budget or the same period last year.
