What is a financial object?
Financial object
A financial object is a structured representation of an entity or activity within financial data, such as a transaction, vendor, customer, account, or department.
Unlike a simple text field, a financial object has an identity and can be connected to other objects. These connections create a richer picture of the relationships within a business's financial activity.
Financial objects are an important part of a semantic data model because they give an AI system information about how financial data relates, rather than requiring it to interpret each piece of information as isolated text. This additional context can help the system recognize relationships and patterns across financial activity.
Example: "Uber," "UBER," and "Uber Technologies, Inc." may appear differently in transaction data but refer to the same company. Representing Uber as a financial object allows the system to connect those transactions to the same vendor and relevant accounting context.
